Two countries on the shortlist, and the tax question decided it
We spent most of this year deciding between Portugal and Greece for a second home, and the thing that settled it was not the houses.
It was how each country treats you once you are there more than 183 days. We are Dutch, both still working, and the arithmetic came out differently enough that the Algarve won on paper before we had even seen a single place in person.
I keep the listings side of it on https://global-property.investments/ because it lets me look at the two countries next to each other instead of in separate tabs. The legal side I got from an accountant in Lisbon and a forum full of people who had done it.
Viewings are in November, four days, six houses, all within thirty minutes of Faro.
